About Kumu Blaine Kamalani Kia As kumu hula, Blaine Kia has
established two hula schools- The Ladies of Ka Waikahe Lani Malie andThe Men of Kahulaliwai, on the islands of
O`ahu, Kaua`i and 2 more additions in California, Sacramento and Antioch. Blaine`s teaching (kumu hula) career began over 10 years ago, shortly following the death of his kumu hula, Darrell Ihi`ihilauakea Lupenui in 1987. He perpetuates his Hawaiian heritage through hula and to assure the preservation of his kumu hula's legacy. He has learned from some of the best and respected kumu hula masters in Hawaii and has gained respect among many hula andvocates and na kumu hula.

About Kumu Juni Kalahikiola Romuar
Juni Kalahikiola Romuar directs the California based halaus (schools) in Antioch and Sacramento. Juni has danced & studied under the direction of Kumu Blaine Kamalani Kia for many years back in her home on Kauai and now has the task of passing on his teachings to the students here in the mainland. Juni has brought the halau much knowledge and has represented her Kumu Kamalani with great pride and respect.

Halau Names
The Ladies of Halau Ka Waikahe Lani Malie, which translate to "The Peaceful Heavenly, Flowing Water", was conceived by Kaleonani and Kumu Hula Blaine Kamalani Kia, in the year 1997.
The Men of Halau KahulaliwaI, which translates to "The Waters
Reflection", was also conceived by Kaleonani and Kumu Hula Blaine Kamalani Kia, in the year 1997.

Halau Vision
To enhance and to sustain strong cultural and spiritual values by better educating the hula practitioner to care, support and respect the dance, so that each practitioner, as they aspire to their full potential, can spiritually and humbly make a contributing impact (by setting the example) to the community and all walks of life.

Halau Mission
All properties of knowledge, wisdom and cultural aspects belonging to the dance as passed down and rooted from generation to generation, shall be maintained by the halau principals for the benefit of allwhom are part of the dance.
